HEH-56


Historia Ecclesiastica Hungarica Foundation researching the history of Churches under Communist regimes considers one of its primary tasks to reveal the effect of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. According to the accomplished researches the revolution had a significant effect not only on the Hungarian Churches, but also on the Churches of the Soviet Union, Romania, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Poland.

Direct influences can be detected in 1957-58, however, certain conclusions are recordable in the 1960s. This is why; our foundation considers the research of this question as a prominent task. To reveal and summarise the newest results on this field, the foundation is going to organise a three-day long international conference on 28-30 November 2007 in Esztergom, Hungary. (See the attached Invitation.)

We intend to publish the presentations of the conference in a separate volume in 2008. Nonetheless, we are continuously looking forward to receive recollections, studies and documents on these matters from scholars, once involved or today active clerics or anyone else interested.

To collect and present these materials, we have created a separate section on the webpages of Historia Ecclesiastica Hungarica Foundation (HEH).
